REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
- THE CHAIRMAN WILL CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER.
- RECITE THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. (may omit as it was recited at the Planning Comm. Mtg)
- REVIEW AND APPROVE THE AGENDA FOR THIS MEETING.
- REVIEW AND APPROVE THE MINUTES FOR JUNE 13TH, 2024, REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING AND THE JUNE 13TH, 2024, PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING.
- DENISE WILL GIVE THE TREASURER’S REPORT FOR JULY, 2024. MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE FINANCIAL REPORT.
- MAKE A MOTION TO AUDIT AND PAY THE TOWNSHIP’S BILLS AND PAYROLL FOR JULY, 2024.
- REVIEW THE TOWNSHIP’S EMAILS AND CORRESPONDENCE FOR JULY, 2024.
- REVIEW ALL OF THE GRAVEL BIDS THAT HAVE BEEN RECEIVED. AFTER REVIEWING THE GRAVEL BIDS, MAKE A MOTION TO ACCEPT ONE OF THE GRAVEL BIDS OR REJECT ANY OR ALL BIDS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A VALID REASON FOR REJECTING A GRAVEL BID. PER THE GRAVEL BID NOTICE THE GRAVEL MUST BE HAULED AND SPREAD ON THE TOWNSHIP’S ROADS BY AUGUST 30TH, 2024.
- REVIEW THE RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE JULY 11TH, 2024, PLANNING COMMISSION IN REGARDS TO AMENDING OUR ORDINANCE WITH STURGEON LAKE TOWNSHIP RESOLUTION 2024-10: TO CONSIDER COMMERCIAL REZONING FOR JASON WILLIAM FOR HIS PROPERTY LOCATED AT 30192 DENHAM CROSSING ROAD. ALSO, STURGEON LAKE TOWNSHIP RESOLUTION 2024-11 AND 2024-12 FOR ISSUANCE OF VARIANCES FOR JOE BURNS TO ALLOW HIM TO BUILD A HOME ON HIS PARCEL 16FEET FROM THE REAR LOT LINE INSTEAD OF 50 FEET FROM THE REAR LOT LINE AS REQUIRED BY THE STURGEON LAKE ZONING ORDINANCE SECTION 15.04. JOE BURNS PROPERTY IS LOCATED AT 83510 HIGH-WAY 61 IN STURGEON LAKE TOWNSHIP. BY MOTION EITHER APPROVE OR REJECT THE PLANNING COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATIONS. IF THE RESOLUTIONS ARE PASSED THESE TWO TOWNSHIP’S RESOLUTIONS, WILL NEED TO POSTED, PUBLISHED AND RECORDED.
- DISCUSS APPOINTING WILLIAM GRUTKOSKI AS THE NEW ZONING ADMINISTRATOR AND DENISE AS THE ASSISTANT ZONING OFFICER. DISCUSS APPOINTING DENISE TO THE STURGEON LAKE PLANNING COMMISSION.
- REVIEW THE FIRE CONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF STURGEON LAKE FIRE DEPARTMENT, APPROVE THE CONTRACT AND SIGN THE CONTRACT. The Fire Department has listed the population for our township at 672 and our township population is actually 568. The Fire Department informed me that this will reduce our fire protection cost by $972.00 for 2025.They will send a corrected Fire Protection Contract for 2025 for our town board to review and sign.
- PER MIKE COURI, “SPECIAL ELECTIONS MAY BE HELD IN A CITY OR TOWN ON A QUESTION ON WHICH THE VOTERS ARE AUTHORIZED BY LAW TO CHARTER TO PASS JUDGMENT. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE TO PROHIBIT “ADVISORY QUESTIONS” FROM BEING PUT ON THE BALLOT.” WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE THE QUESTION ON WHETHER TO ALLOW THE BIO-SOLIDS TO BE SPREAD ON LAND IN OUR TOWNSHIP ON ANY ELECTION. WE CAN HOLD INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE AND REGULATE THIS ISSUE.
- DISCUSS ANY OTHER PERTINENT BUSINESS, IF ALL OF THE BUSINESS FOR THE JULY 11TH, 2024, REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING HAS BEEN COMPLETED, MAKE A MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MEETING.

PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
- The Chairman of the Planning Commission will call the meeting to order.
- Pledge of Allegiance.
- Introduce Sturgeon Lake Township’s Resolution: 2024-10: AN ORDINANCE REZONING PROPERTY TO COMMERCIAL DISTRICT FOR JASON WILLIAMS. Review this Resolution, allow for public input. Anyone wishing to do public input will be allowed 3 minutes to speak. The Planning Commission will make a recommendation to the Sturgeon Lake Town Board on this Resolution by passing a motion reflecting the recommendation. (Please review attached email from Mike Couri in regards to this Resolution).
- Introduce Sturgeon Lake Township Resolution 2024-11: RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF A VARIANCE TO LOCATE A HOME 16 FEET FROM THE REAR PROPERTY LINE. Review this resolution, allow for public input and anyone wishing to do public input will be allowed 3 minutes to speak. The Planning Commission will make a recommendation to the Sturgeon Lake Town Board on this Resolution by passing a motion reflecting the recommendation.
- Introduce Sturgeon Lake Township Resolution 2024-12: RESOLUTION APPROVING A VARIANCE TO LOCATE A HOME 16 FEET FROM THE REAR PROPERTY LINE. Review this Resolution. Allow for public input and anyone wishing to do public input will be allowed 3 minutes to speak. The Planning Commission will make a recommendation to the Sturgeon Lake Town Board on this Resolution by passing a motion to reflect the recommendation.
- If all of the business has been concluded for this meeting, make a motion to adjourn this meeting.

- MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE AGENDA FOR THIS MEETING.
- DENISE WILL GIVE THE TOWNSHIP’S END OF YEAR 2023, FINANCIAL REPORT.
- REVIEW ALL OF THE REMAINING TOWNSHIP’S BILLS FOR 2023 AND MAKE A MOTION TO AUDIT AND PAY THE BILLS. ALL PAYROLL CHECKS MUST BE CASHED ON 12/28/2023.
- REVIEW ALL OF THE TOWNSHIP’S CORRESPONDENCE.
- DISCUSS ANY OTHER PERTINENT BUSINESS FOR THE TOWNSHIP’S FISCAL YEAR OF 2023.
- IF ALL OF THE TOWNSHIP’S BUSINESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED FOR THE TOWNSHIP’S FISCAL YEAR OF 2023, MAKE A MOTION TO ADJOURN THIS MEETING.

2024 NEW YEAR FISCAL MEETING
1. THE CHAIRMAN WILL CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER.
2. RECITE THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.
3. ELECT A NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD FOR 2024. RECOMMEND BILL BE NOMINATED FOR THIS POSITION AND A CO-CHAIRMAN SHOULD ALSO, BE NOMINATED: RECOMMEND: BERNIE.
4. REVIEW ALL OF THE FOLLOWING AND IF ALL OF THESE ITEMS HAVE BEEN REVIEWED MAKE A MOTION FOR THE CHANGES AND INCLUDE IN THE MOTION WHAT IS NOT BEEN CHANGED:
SUPERVISOR’S WAGES: CURRENTLY $70.00 PER MEETING.
TREASURER’S WAGES: CURRENTLY $450.00 PER MEETING.
CLERK’S WAGES: CURRENTLY $900.00 PER MEETING.
GRADER’S OPERATOR’S WAGES: CURRENTLY $35.00 AN HOUR AND ANY TIME OVER 8 HOURS IS PAID AT TIME AND AN HALF: $52.50 PER HOUR.
ZONING OFFICER IS CURRENTLY RECEIVING $60.00 PER PERMIT.
FEE FOR THE TOWNSHIP DOING WORK WITH THE TOWNSHIP’S GRADER FOR OTHER ENTITINES OR RESIDENTS OF THE TOWNSHIP.CURRENTLY $150.00 PER HOUR: RECOMMEND INCREASING TO $200.00 PER HOUR.
CURRENT SNOWPLOWING RATE FOR RESIDENTS IF $40.00 EACH TIME, A DEPOSIT OF $160.00 IS REQUIRED BY 11/1/2024.IF THE RESIDENT REQUESTS TO HAVE THEIR DRIVEWAY BE SNOWPLOWED AFTER THE TOWNSHIP HAS COMPLETED SNOWPLOWING TOWNSHIP ROAD AND SNOWPLOWING DRIVEWAY, THE RESIDENT WILL BE CHARGED $80.00 TO HAVE THEIR DRIVEWAY SNOWPLOWED BY THE TOWNSHIP.THE TOWNSHIP RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE TO SNOWPLOW A RESIDENT’S DRIVEWAY IF THERE ARE OBSTACLES IN THE WAY OF THE GRADER.THIS INCLUDES: ROCKS, TREES, BRUSH, VEHICLES, JUNK, OR ANY OTHER DEBRIS IN THE WAY OF THE GRADER.THE TOWNSHIP WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT MAY OCCUR WHEN THE TOWNSHIP IS SNOWPLOWING A PRIVATE DRIVEWAY.
SET THE RATE PAID FOR MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT, IT IS CURRENTLY 62 CENTS PER MILE. THE RATE ALLOWED BY THE IRS IS $.67 PER MILE BY THE IRS.
5. MAKE A MOTION FOR THE CLERK TO POST AND PUBLISH THE FOLLOWING NOTICES: MARCH, 2024, ANNUAL TOWNSHIP MEETING.
6. REVIEW THE TOWNSHIP’S CURRENT BUDGET: IT IS CURRENTLY $177,500.00. WE HAVE BEEN FINANCIALLY STABLE FOR 6 YEARS. IN 2023, WE HAVE HAD A SNOW STORM DAMAGES AND FLOOD DAMAGE. WE ARE STILL WAITING REIMBURSEMENT FROM FEMA. WHEN WE ARE FINALLY REIMBURSED, WE SHOULD RECEIVE $71,000.00. THE TOWNSHIP’S FIRE PROTECTION IS INCREASING ABOUT $5000.00 ANNUALLY.
7. DISCUSS ANY OTHER PERTINENT BUSINESS FOR THIS MEETING, WHAT TOPICS WOULD YOU LIKE REVIEWED AT THE TOWNSHIP’S ANNUAL MEETING.

THERE WILL NOT BE A TOWNSHIP’S MEETING IN JANUARY, 2024, DENISE WILL PAY THE BILLS. OUR NEXT TOWNSHIP MEETING IS ON THE 29TH OF FEBRUARY: THE BOARD OF AUDIT MEETING BEGINS AT 5:00 P.M. AND THE FEBRUARY REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING WILL BEGIN AT 6:00 P.M.
